Statement in response to Guardian article
The incident happened on 14 April 2013 at about 11.45am in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford.
Phil Hallam, neighbourhood inspector for Rushcliffe, said: “We can confirm that we attended this incident and as a result of our investigation the car driver involved was found to be at fault and has been ordered to attend a National Driver Alertness Course. A woman was also cautioned as a result of the public order offence.
“I am satisfied that the officers involved in the case have acted appropriately. In his email the Sergeant, himself a cyclist, clearly explains his course of action and is very open about the route of disposal that was taken and why. There was no intended inference of blame and it is unfortunate if this is how it was taken.”
